Exchange Server 5.5 and Outlook Web Access Installation

1. Prepare NT Server for Exchange Server and Active Server Component installation
   • Install NT Server
   • Install latest Service Pack
   • Install Internet Information Server 4.0 (IIS) from NT Option Pack 4.
2. Install Exchange Server 5.5, including Active Server Components for Outlook Web Access (OWA)
3. Add the required permissions to allow users access
   • Run User Manager for Domains
   • From the Policies menu, select User Rights...
   • From the Right pull-down menu, select Access this computer from the network
   • Click on the Add button
   • Highlight the IIS user account and click Add
   • Highlight the Everyone group, click Add, and click OK
   • From the Right pull-down menu, select Log on locally
   • Click on the Add button
   • Highlight the IIS user account and click Add
   • Highlight the Everyone group, click Add, and click OK
   • Click OK to close out the User Rights dialog box
   • Close User Manager for Domains.
4. Modify EXCHSRVR directory permissions
   • Set EXCHSRVR/WEBDATA and all sub-directories to READ
   • Set EXCHSRVR/WEBTEMP and all sub-directories to CHANGE
5. Turn on HTTP protocol in Exchange
   • Run Exchange Administrator
   • Select a Site, highlight Protocols, and select HTTP Site Settings
   • Verify that Enable Protocol is checked on
   • Configure Active Server Component
